Social Party of the Child
Maria Montessori introduced the Social Party of the Child in 1937. She argued that children are not merely future citizens, they are citizens of the world whose needs, rights, and voices must be recognized and represented.
The vision was simple but powerful: the child is the builder of humanity, and the future of society depends on how we support and include children in the present. Her conviction that children are citizens with rights later found its way into international law with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
MONISC builds on Maria Montessori's legacy by creating a global structure where students are not only heard, but actively collaborate, take initiative, and contribute across schools, countries, and cultures.
Connected through student councils
Montessori International Student Council, is a community for all Montessori students. National student councils serve as its connection points and organizational structure.
At the national level, student councils bring together students and schools within the same country. At the international level, these councils connect with one another, forming a global Montessori student community.
As one of the most established structures for student participation worldwide, student councils provide a strong foundation for collaboration while connecting our community to a broader international movement of children and youth.
